Traffic School Of America

When you get caught rolling right on through that stop sign or blatantly ignoring the speed limit, the price you have to pay can be hefty. You can choose to lose a point on your license, in which case you’ll end up paying a lot more for car insurance, or you can choose to attend traffic school, which will result in a confidential conviction that no one will be able to see – including your insurance company. An in-person traffic course is typically 8 hours long, but you can take the course from the comfort of your home (or car, or coffee shop, or wherever) if you do it online. And of course you’re going to do it online. It’s cheaper, and you don’t have to be trapped in a depressing room for 8 hours with a bunch of other fancy pants drivers. Traffic School of America is one of hundreds of online traffic schools that you can choose from.

Top-Rated Online Traffic Schools

Is Traffic School of America Legit?

Traffic School of America has been in the online traffic school business for over 10 years, and they’re licensed by the California DMV to provide education for traffic violators in all California counties. The site utilizes 100-bit encryption over a private connection to ensure your personal information is safe and secure. Traffic School of America appears to be perfectly legit.

What They Offer

Compared to other traffic school websites, Traffic School of America takes the austere route, which means that you don’t have to slog through a whole bunch of overly-salesy jibber jabber, obnoxious graphics, and overblown claims of perfection in order to find the information you’re looking for. It’s straightforward and matter-of-fact, which is rather refreshing. Traffic School of America’s course has no timers, which means that you really can progress at your own pace. Many other online traffic courses make you spend a half hour or more on each chapter, which means it can take up to 8 hours to complete the online course. This course can be taken on your laptop, desktop, or any of your mobile devices, which makes it very convenient. Just don’t take it on your cell phone while you’re driving. It should be mentioned that this is a comedy course. Traffic School of America promises that you’ll be entertained with colorful graphics, funny cartoons, hilarious jokes, and engaging videos. Whether this course is LOL funny or merely amusing is unknown, but the point is, at least they’re trying to make traffic school a happy experience. Once you take (and pass) the final exam, your certificate will be electronically sent to the DMV, and you’ll get a copy by email so that you can frame it and hang it on your wall next to your high school diploma and your college degree. Such a proud moment!

How Traffic School of America Works

The first thing you’ll do to sign up for Traffic School of America’s traffic violator course is fill out the registration form, for which you’ll need your driver’s license number, the county and court information, and the docket, case, citation, or reference number. You’ll pay your $25.99, which covers the course, the exam, the DMV reporting, and the emailed certificate of completion. Traffic School of America promises that there are no hidden fees. You can start the course right away. You’ll complete each chapter, which is followed by a short quiz to help prepare you for the final exam, which consists of 25 multiple choice and true or false questions. You have to score at least a 70 percent to pass. The test is open-book, so you shouldn’t have any trouble passing it with flying colors. Your certificate will be submitted to the DMV the same day you pass the exam, as long as you do so before the end of the business day.

Customer Support

Some online traffic schools offer 24/7 support, while others are only available to help during normal weekday business hours. Traffic School of America falls in the middle. Customer support is available by email or phone. Emails are answered within one business day, and you can reach support by phone 7 days a week from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm.

What We Like About Traffic School of America

We like the simplicity of Traffic School of America’s website. They don’t beat you over the head with how great they are and why they’re the most awesome, number-one traffic school that ever graced the face of the earth. Heck, Traffic School of America’s website doesn’t even have hundreds of former students’ reviews for you to read, which is actually a little disappointing, because those are always fun to peruse. We like that customer service is available 7 days a week during reasonable hours, and we like that the course will at least attempt to tickle your funny bone and prevent you from falling off your chair as you doze off in the middle of reading about the rules, regulations, protocol, and techniques concerning lane changes on the Interstate.

What We Don’t Like About Traffic School of America

There is very little information about Traffic School of America on the Internet, aside from their website. This kind of makes it hard to skulk around and find any dirt on them. But that could also be a good thing, who knows? In February of 2014, they launched their Facebook page, which has exactly zero posts and only one like over a year later. Someone should tell them that social media marketing requires actually using the social media. The course fee of $25.99 is a little more pricey than many competing traffic schools, which seem to price their courses in the neighborhood of $19.99. But an additional six bucks won’t break you, and the funny course might actually be worth the extra dough.

Rating for Traffic School of America

The website isn’t annoying, the price isn’t too bad, the customer support is reasonable, and the course might actually be funny. Sounds like Traffic School of America is neither the worst or the best online traffic school, and so we’ll give them a decidedly average 3 out of 5 stars.
