Texas Adult Driver's Ed Course Reviews

You can take a Texas adult driver’s ed course from the comfort of your own home. Well, at least if you live in the state of Texas you can! For some reason, other states aren’t on board with this idea. So if you’re from any other state besides Texas, you can check our general online driver’s ed course reviews.

Are You Qualified for Online Driver’s Ed?

In order to qualify for the below online driver’s ed courses, you must be a current resident of Texas and be at least 18 years of age. Other than that, there’s nothing else to it! Pretty straightforward stuff.

How Is Adult Driver’s Ed Different?

Taking an adult driver’s ed course instead of a regular course is much faster. Do not sign up for a course designed for those under 18! You will add many hours to the course and it’s unnecessary. The adult course is only 6 hours long and 100% of it can be done online (don’t worry, you don’t have to do it all in one day). It’s also designed for adults instead of 15 or 16-year-olds.

What are the Reasons Why Adults Take an Online Driver’s Ed?

One popular misconception is that drivers’ ed is only for teens who are applying for a learner’s permit or preparing for their exam. This is not always the case. Some states require driver’s education for over 18 applicants, too.

And, even if it’s not a requirement, taking an online adult driver’s ed offers a lot of benefits.

For one, it’s the best way to refresh your driving knowledge and get up to date on road safety – rules are ever-changing so it’s better to be always informed about these changes.

The other more popular reason is if you want to save up on auto insurance – because most online providers of driver’s education offer insurance discounts upon course completion.

Still, other adults take driver’s ed for employment requirements.

Review #1: iDriveSafely.com

As far as company history and reputation is concerned, it doesn’t get any better than iDriveSafely.com. This was the very first Texas adult drivers ed course approved in the state and they’ve been providing the course for over a decade. They’ve got an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, and they blow the doors off of our minimum requirements for TSC Certification. To put it another way, this is the course you should be signing up for.

Review #2: DriversEd.com

DriversEd.com is another excellent choice since it is a well-established company with a very detailed business history. Although their Texas Adult Drivers Ed course was recently established in 2011, they have been one of the big players when it comes to teen driver’s ed courses. The quality of the adult course is just as good, including mobile and tablet-friendly versions, flash or HTML versions, interactive videos, animations, and graphics. They’ve got an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and they also greatly exceed all of our TSC Certification requirements.

Review #3: GetDefensive.com

GetDefensive.com has a unique advantage – they promise to be the lowest priced Texas Adult Drivers Ed course in the state. You won’t find one cheaper, because their course is priced at the state minimum. If you do somehow find a cheaper course, they will beat the price. While the course quality leaves a bit to be desired, this is the best option if you’re trying to complete your driver’s ed requirements on a budget. They still offer 24/7/365 customer service, are A+ Rated with the Better Business Bureau, and exceed all of our TSC Certification requirements.

Review #4: Aceable

Aceable probably offers the most modern user interface out of all the driver education schools mentioned so far. Their Texas Adult Driver’s Ed is only six hours long – the shortest allowed by Texas law. But then again, you don’t have to complete this six-hour course in one sitting, you can take your time here. Their awesome app already includes the written exam, so you can skip the DPS. You can also get a 48% discount if you opt to avail of 1 free month of Allstate Roadside Services. Just like the other schools, they also received an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau,  and they have exceeded all of our TSC Certification requirements.

Non-TSC Certified Online Drivers Ed Courses

Unlike our Online Traffic School Reviews, online insurance discount course reviews, or our online teen driver course reviews, those are the only 2 courses that meet our strict TSC Certification requirements. Does that mean they are the only courses you should sign up for? Well, in our opinion, YES! But just in case you want to shop around, here are some other popular courses you might want to check out.

QUICK NOTE: Watch for hidden charges! Many of the below courses promise low pricing, only to slam you with ridiculous $20+ “shipping & handling fees” or other hidden charges.

ANOTHER QUICK NOTE: Watch for resellers! There are hundreds of courses out there that claim to sell adult driver’s ed courses, but really, they are simply resellers for other courses.
