Now, let’s get into the details.

Availability

If you’ve just looked at the comparison chart, you know that DriverEdToGo clearly has the most driver’s ed courses available. They’re available in all 50 states (it’s only approved in 6 of the 50 states, though).

DriverEdToGo vs iDriveSafely - Which One is Better DriverEdToGo

But does that mean that iDriveSafely isn’t available in the other 41 states?

Nope. This is because iDriveSafely has partnered up with DriversEd.com to serve the other 41 states that they currently don’t have their own driver’s ed on.

So if you look at it that way, iDriveSafely does have driver’s ed courses across the country. It’s just that they don’t have their own courses for the 41 states not listed in the chart.

If you’re not picky with iDriveSafely partnering with DriversEd.com, then it’s safe to say that iDriveSafely can compete with DriverEdToGo in terms of availability.

Course Options

Just by its name, you know that DriverEdToGo’s specialty is driver’s ed. This also shows since they made sure that they are available in all 50 states.

However, if you plan to take other courses (like driver improvement or insurance discount), you won’t be able to find a course here.

This is where iDriveSafely goes past its competitor.

DriverEdToGo vs iDriveSafely - Which One is Better iDriveSafely

Unlike DriverEdToGo, iDriveSafely has a lot of different courses available.

So if you’re done with your driver’s ed, you can also take other courses depending on your needs.

Moreover, if you get a traffic ticket in the future, you can always go back to iDriveSafely to take a course to settle it. This is a good opportunity for the driving school to retain its students in the long run.

User Experience

Now let’s talk about the user experience.

Which online driver’s ed has a more user-friendly interface?

If you ask me, both have their own way of making their apps and sites intuitive.

For example, DriverEdToGo has a very interactive feel to its design.

It even has a cartoon-ish design; it’s like watching animation on your screen.

When it comes to ease of use, this driving school is very user-friendly. It also comes with a mobile app that will make it easier to access on your phone and study on the go.

The only problem with DriverEdToGo is its slowness in processing the certificate.

If you’ve seen other reviews of the school, you’ll notice that the difficulty is not really on the navigation or content but more on the certificate.

On the other hand, iDriveSafely has a seamless interface that’s very easy to understand. Whether you’re a teenager or an adult, you won’t have a hard time navigating through the app (yes it has an app!).

You can also just start and stop on any device and continue using a different device. It’s that easy because your progress is automatically saved, so you don’t have to start all over again.

However, based on some reviews I’ve seen, iDriveSafely’s mobile app is not as good compared to its desktop app.

Users have experienced bugs on their mobile devices when using the app. This is mainly because iDriveSafely’s app was made for laptops.

Features

Of course, we can’t compare the two without even talking about their unique features.

Both schools are DMV-approved in some states (check above chart) and 100% online. They also offer automatically sending your course completion certificate to the DMV.

But what makes the two different from each other?

First up is DriverEdToGo.

DriverEdToGo’s interactive games and videos make it the best for teenagers who find themselves easily bored when studying.

It also has a read-along feature that makes it easier for you to follow the whole course.

To top it all off, DriverEdToGo gives extra 2.5 credits for your high school graduation.

As for iDriveSafely, what students love about it is its seamlessness.

I know, it’s not exactly a feature. But the overall convenience and ease of use the site and app give are so excellent, that alone might just convince you to try it out.

Reviews

Reviews make it easier for us to know how others have felt after trying online driving schools.

This is why I’ve compiled some reviews that might be helpful for you to know what to expect when you try DriverEdToGo or iDriveSafely.

Here’s a review from a first-timer at DriverEdToGo:

"Your company allowed me to pass my permit test on the first try. It gives all the right information and some very important things to know on the road! 10/10 would recommend to anyone!"

And if you’re worried about not passing:

"Easy pass! This is the cheapest online education course I found! Plus, it is guaranteed that you will get your certificate, which will be sent to your mailing address within a week if you choose the regular mailing option, since, if you fail the final exam, you will be able to retake it as many times as needed to pass. The course is fast and easy. It's definitely the course I'd recommend everyone to take. "

Here’s what others have to say about iDriveSafely:

"I love how the lessons were broken down with extra review at the end of each video. Everything was easy to process and they make sure you are able to understand everything. It is a very smooth process to getting your learners permit and I highly recommend using this site."

And here’s another one from a satisfied student:

"This is a great school for your time, it keeps you invested while learning a lot about driving and driving safety and it as great because I got to learn at my own time. I would highly recommend I Drive Safely to anyone looking for a driving school for them or someone else."

Alternatives

Are there other online driving schools? Of course, there are!

If you’re still looking for other options, I recommend Aceable, MyImprov, and DriversEd.com

Since DriversEd.com has already partnered with iDriveSafely, it makes sense that you also check out their own driver’s ed courses.

As for Aceable, they’re pretty popular among driver’s ed courses because their content is very engaging and interactive. It even has its own mascot that will guide you through the whole course.

But if humor is what you’re looking for, MyImprov is going to be your favorite. Why?

MyImprov mixes improv and comedy with teaching how to drive. That alone has made it very famous across the country.

Verdict

Based on our comparison, both iDriveSafely and DriverEdToGo are good options for anyone looking for a driver’s ed course.

However, if your priorities are more on the pricing and social proof, then you’ll be better off choosing iDriveSafely

But if you prefer more engaging content and high school credits, then DriverEdToGo is your best option.
