So, what is the best traffic school online? While everyone has their own opinion about which online traffic school is the “best” one, after researching and reviewing hundreds of online traffic schools, I believe iDriveSafely comes in at the top. If you have already checked out iDriveSafely and for whatever reason, you don’t like that school, I will provide a few alternatives at the end of this article. Feel free to scroll down and check them out.
How I Determined The Best Traffic School Online Is iDriveSafely
For starters, iDriveSafely has been around for about 2 decades now and they have had 6,000,000 students and counting. That’s a lot of guinea pigs! Even with this long operating history and so many graduates, their Better Business Bureau record is pretty much spotless. But just having a good BBB rating and a lot of prior students doesn’t automatically make iDriveSafely the best traffic school online, so let’s get into some additional reasons.
It’s Easy To Cheat
Yeah, I said it. Chances are you’re not taking traffic school online by choice. Heck, it sure beats a classroom-based traffic school course, but let’s face it – taking traffic school, even online, sucks big time. It’s slow and boring, and you have to pass a bunch of quizzes/tests to pass it.
Well, with iDriveSafely being such a popular course, that means it’s easy to obtain all the answers to the test and quiz questions. Here’s just one site that offers that information. If you perform a Google Search for iDriveSafely answers you will find many others as well. So, as I said – it’s easy to cheat!
It’s A Legit U.S. Based Company With A Legit 24/7 Support Staff
Several months ago, iDriveSafely learned that I was writing all these reviews. I had already rated iDriveSafely among the top traffic schools online, but they actually invited me to check out their office in Escondido, California.
To say I was impressed is not doing them justice. I saw the teams that create the courses, the managers, and more importantly, the in-house customer service staff they have on-site 24 hours every single day, including holidays and weekends.
Make no mistake, many traffic schools online are run by people out of their homes. This is a legit business with a legit staff and they take their business seriously.
But why is 24/7 customer support so important? Well, the 24/7 part is obvious – you’ll know a U.S.-based and English-speaking service rep will be able to help you out anytime you need it. However, you should also consider what’s really at stake here – your driving record, finances, auto insurance rates, and hours upon hours of your time doing something you really don’t want to do in the first place. If something goes wrong, you need a legitimate company to help you out and you certainly get that with iDriveSafely.
The Best Traffic School Online Is The Fastest Traffic School Online
While iDriveSafely is certified across many states, the course is unique to each state in that they have set it up to take you as little time as possible. In some states, like Texas, the course must be timed due to state regulations and you have to spend the full 6.5 to 7 hours on it. In other states, no course timer is required, so they allow you to blast through it as fast as you’d like (UPDATE! I’ve heard that the iDriveSafely traffic school in California DOES have a timer even if it is no longer required). Whichever state you need to take your traffic school in, you can be assured that iDriveSafely is the fastest allowed by law depending on where you live.
The Best Traffic School Online Should Be CHEAP!
Here’s the thing – most online-based traffic schools are cheap. As in $20 or less cheap. I know, there are way better things you can do with 20 bucks than spend it on an online traffic school, but if you simply search for the cheapest online traffic school without taking into account the headaches you will have by signing up for Joe Shmo’s online traffic school and saving 5 bucks, it isn’t worth it. With that said, iDriveSafely has courses that are either at the state-mandated minimums or on par with any other legit online traffic school out there.
Runner-Up Traffic Schools
While I can say with certainty that the best traffic school online is iDriveSafely, some people might not like them for whatever reason. If that’s the case, here are a few additional online traffic schools I can recommend as being very high quality.
Ironically, the Best Online Traffic School only ranks second on our list. And this is only because it is a bit more expensive and only available in California. However, it more than makes up for this with credibility. The online institution is fully accredited by California’s Department of Motor Vehicles. It offers an easy-to-follow course that’s spread into twelve modules. You can choose to study it with audible and Spanish or Chinese alternatives. This makes it inclusive, accessible, and convenient for most Californian drivers.
The Best Online Traffic School offers round-the-clock assistance, providing students with reliable support after office hours. Its 24/7 live chat support can certainly take the pressure off students. You don’t have to do it alone! You can get the help you need when you need it. Students also don’t have to worry about financial pressures thanks to deferred payment options. You can study everything for FREE — and only pay when you need to take the final exam.

Well, if you are more likely to finish something you enjoy doing, it might be best to take the course from Improv Traffic School. Why? Because its unique comedy course (co-written by Hollywood and professional comedy writers) has humorous micro-learning lessons delivered in a fun and memorable format.
It’s the only online traffic school that is “backed by science and fueled by fun” in a “Best Traffic School” nominee-worthy “edutainment” teaching style.

Since they were established in 1997, DriversEd.com has already trained more than 13 million drivers across the U.S., making them one of the leading defensive driving education providers in the country.
But don’t be surprised to see courses offered by DriversEd.com but delivered by iDriveSafely and vice versa. This is because, in the second half of 2014, the two online driving schools were merged in a strategic combination to create eDriving.
eDriving is considered the largest provider of online driver training solutions in all 50 states in the US and Canada.
TrafficSchool101 is one of the first accredited online traffic schools in the nation. They have been in business since 1998, and they are known to be the only school that gives students a chance to win a FREE traffic school course. They don’t charge additional fees for certificates or duplicate certificates, as well. So, when talking about freebies, I guess TrafficSchool101 beats the other schools on our list.
GoToTrafficSchool website claims that they are one of the Internet’s most popular online traffic school courses. Well, there’s no reason to say that this claim has no basis. Since 1999, they have been providing licensed online traffic school programs in over 25 states in the US, and they have programs for safe driver points, mature drivers, insurance reduction, and fleet driver safety programs. Their courses are also the lowest priced in the industry. So no wonder it’s popular among drivers, especially those on a tight budget.
While iDriveSafely is my opinion the best traffic school online, any of the above courses will get the job done at a fair price, with good customer service, and QUICKLY!
Beware of the Crappy “Certified” Traffic Schools Online
Did you know there are more than 700 certified traffic schools online?
And that’s just for the state of California! It’s crazy.
A huge number of these “certified” online traffic schools are just horrible as if they are run by some dude out of his kitchen, which they probably are.
If you have any problems getting your completion certificate or want to contest hidden charges when you reach the end of the course, good luck finding someone who cares. Either choose one of the schools I’ve recommended above or do some homework to make sure whoever you sign up with is legit!
