More and more states are allowing online traffic school to be the norm. In the age of the internet, it only makes sense! People have busy lives and sacrificing a weekend to sit in a classroom full of grumpy people doesn’t sound that exciting. But the option to fit in traffic school into your schedule whenever you have the time is far more convenient, making the entire process a bit less painful.
Our specialty is reviewing online courses, and we’ve lined up some of the best of the best for you.
You should always check to see if a course is accepted by your state before you pay and enroll. But if you’re feeling overwhelmed by your options, this is the perfect place to start to work towards getting your traffic ticket dismissed.
Best Overall Online Traffic School: iDriveSafely.com
iDriveSafely is one of our go-to recommendations. Not only is it accepted in a long list of states, but it’s been around for over ten years. That means that they not only have the experience but they have the track record to help you achieve success. Aside from receiving our best online traffic school of the year award two years in a row, this course fulfills all the needs without requiring any more than the state mandated time minimums. Their site is incredibly easy to navigate and they offer a number of resources, including all 50 states’ DMV websites and information on driving permits, insurance discount information, and more. Additionally, most of their courses offer free shipping of your certificate completion, which we just think is good business practice. No sketchy hidden fees here!
They offer services for a number of states, including: AL, AK, AZ, CA, CO, DE, FL, ID, IN, KS, LA, ME, MI, MO, NJ, NM, NV, NY, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, SC, TN, TX, VA, WA.
Funniest Online Traffic School: MyImprov.com
Yes, you read that right… the funniest! MyImprov understands that it’s a bit of a drag to have to do traffic school, and you’re more than likely taking it for an insurance discount or to waive a traffic ticket and not because you’re actually excited to learn more about driving. Luckily, their course incorporates humor to keep things interesting. There are in fact a few different comedy traffic schools out there that aim to be fun and include comedy, but in our experience they’ve all been relatively poor quality. This course is not one of those!
This course has been taken by a number of satisfied students for almost two decades, and it’s won a number of awards from media and other organizations. The content is written by writers in Hollywood who specialize in humor, making it an enjoyable course to take. Additionally, they pride themselves in their aim to have satisfied customers and it shows: they have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
You can sign up for class in the following states: AZ, CA, DE, FL, GA, MO, MI, NJ, NV, NY, TX, VA
Simplest Online Traffic School: Traffic101.com
At first glance, this course seems the same as any other. They offer traffic school and defensive driving classes in California, Florida, Nevada, and Texas, all online. But from what we hear, their customer service consistently goes above and beyond the expected. The course is certainly more traditional and is made up of text only—no videos, video games, or fancy 3D graphics like some other courses out there. But while it may not be the most exciting or innovative course, it is simple and straightforward. This is perfect for people who simply want to sit down and get their class finished without any extra frills.
Traffic101 also offers last-minute services, so if you’re on a tight deadline and need to get your certificate as quickly as possible, this is the perfect option. Traffic school can usually be complete within 90 days, but many people put it off because, well, it’s not exactly the first thing you want to be doing. But if you’ve procrastinated and are still wanting to waive your ticket, Traffic101 can offer rush services.
The states they operate in are: CA, FL, NV, TX
Considering Another Course?
You may look through these three options and decide that none of them is the right course for you. That’s fine, too! We have a lot of reviews up on various online schools as well. If you do decide to go with another course, make sure that it fits the following qualifications:
- It’s approved in your state. Nothing would be worse than completing a course that your state’s DMV does not approve! Before you click enroll or hit purchase, make sure that you will be able to use that particular online traffic school towards it.
- It’s not completely new. Always do research and try to decide how long the course has been around. If it’s relatively new, then it might be best to move on and try to find one with more experience. Even if it’s a completely legitimate site and business, they likely are still working out kinks in their customer service and content. You’ll have a much smoother process with a more established company.
- They list out their terms and services. Make sure you look for any hidden fees or unexpected charges. If they’re not upfront about the shipping costs for your certificate, for example, it’s a potentially shady situation.
- They have 24/7/365 assistance. You’ll be taking your online course at any time of the day, and it’s nice to know that someone is there for you to turn to.
